I’m stuck and I need some help. I’ve been thinking through my wedding to-do list and I’ve hit a bit of a stumbling block. Old, new, borrowed and blue are all things that I want to feature in my wedding – but I don’t know where to start. Continue reading

Wedding fairs – are they worth it?

Wedding-fair

Lee loves wedding fairs!

So here’s a topic that divides my friends and I, and is definitely a source of debate for many brides. Wedding fairs. What are they, should I go and more importantly are they worth the cost and time to attend.

Wedding planning limbo

Save-the-date

Dawn & Lee are getting married!

Over the past few weeks I’ve been catching up with lots of friends and family and their first question is always how are the wedding plans. Without thinking I’ve got a stock reply of ‘really well thanks, I think we’ve sorted all the big things’. It’s a phrase that just rolls off my tongue without thinking too much about what I’m saying, because in reality if I reeled off every wedding planning thought that’s currently going through my head they’d probably avoid me at all costs until after the big day. There’s a few close friends (and obviously my mum) that I’ll share the full inner workings of my mind with but I figure they can take it and won’t run a mile when I’m going through the room allocation dilemma (again).

My honeymoon wardrobe wish list

To say I’m excited that our honeymoon is booked is probably a bit of an understatement. I’m literally bouncing with excitement and there’s still 8 months to go! The flights and hotels are booked and we’ve got a sort of itinerary planned, which has made me start to think about what clothes I should be packing for a holiday of 3 parts.

Is 3 wedding planners too many?

I’ll start by saying I love a list. I enjoy being organised. Excel is my friend. And so it makes total sense that my best friend gave me a wedding planner as an engagement gift. It’s a beautiful cream A5 Moleskin book with lots of space for all my notes and ideas. And then when Lee and I went shopping we saw a great planner by BusyB. It’s bigger than my moleskin book and has pockets to drop in leaflets and cut outs. We decided that the planner from Nikki could be for my handbag and we bought the BusyB planner to keep at home. Then I got a free wedding ideas notebook with Perfect Wedding magazine. This is just a simple book with plain pages. Nothing fancy but perfect sized for throwing into my handbag and scribbling down thoughts as I had them. I should point out that before this freebie I’d started to worry that my beautiful cream planner was going to get dirty and dog-eared being lugged around in my handbag. And this is where my problem lies.

Head over to read ‘The 7 things no one ever tells you about wedding dress shopping’, an article I’ve written to give other brides to be a helping hand when looking for THE DRESS.

I’d love you to pop over and have a read and let me know what you think. There are some great resources over there that I’ll definitely be tapping into for my own planning!

Honeymoon planning: It’s all booked!

Ever since Lee and I met just over 2 years ago we’ve loved traveling together. Our first getaway was a 2 night trip to Bournemouth just a couple of months into our relationship. Since then we’ve been to Tunisia, Paris and Mexico (where Lee proposed) to name just a few. So, once the wedding was booked we knew that the honeymoon was another big thing that we wanted to tick off our list. Continue reading

9 months to go!

wedding countdown 274 days to go

274 days to go!

I feel like we’re hitting another milestone in our countdown today. Exactly 9 months ago Lee surprised me by asking me to be his wife and in exactly 9 months time that dream is going to come true. We chose the date for our wedding on a day that worked well for us and enabled us to have the spring wedding we really wanted, what we realised afterwards is that we would be getting married 18 months to the day from when Lee proposed.
